Around 80% of mortality in diabetic patients is due to macrovascular disease complications. It is estimated that for each increase of 1% of A1C test, the cardiovascular risk (CVR) increases an average of18%.Current epidemiological studies have failed to demonstrate the benefit of improving glycemic control to reduce macrovascular complications. Therefore to prevent the macrovascular disease in type 2, diabetes must be an early and multifactorial approach, including all cardiovascular risk factors (CVRF): glycemic control, dyslipidemia, blood pressure, obesity and tobacco use, identifying control objectives according to the characteristics of each patient.
