Abstract
Introduction

An update on dry eye is presented. It is not usually given enough attention in the medical office since it is considered a trivial disease or part of normal aging. However, it can cause severe diseases of the ocular surface, has a high social cost due to the impact on the quality of vision and quality of life of patients and has a high cost in medical care due to the high frequency of consultations and the cost in treatments.

Diagnosis and treatment

Current concepts of dry eye, etiopathogenesis, diagnosis and alternatives in prevention and treatment are reviewed
