Abstract

Viral hepatitis is the most common cause of acute and chronic hepatitis worldwide. Hepatotropic viruses are diagnosed serologically. Hepatitis C is treated with direct-acting antivirals. The indications for hepatitis B treatment are based on analytical parameters and non-invasive methods. There is no specific treatment for hepatitis A virus. In chronic hepatitis E, ribavirin is administered.
